What we collect, and what we do with it.

Effective 3 October 2026

Canada Love Notes is a volunteer campaign, not a company. We ask for very little, we do not sell anything about you, and we would rather explain this in plain language than bury it.

Who we are

Canada Love Notes is an unincorporated volunteer project based in New York State. It is not a business and it is not a registered charity. You can reach the people behind it at hello@canadalovenotes.com.

What we collect

We only collect what you type into one of our forms. There is no account to create, and we do not ask for your street address, your phone number, or any payment information.

Our web host also records standard technical information when any page loads, including IP addresses, browser type, and the time of the request. We do not use that information to identify anyone.

Why we collect it

To print and mail the cards you ask for. To keep an accurate count of how many Love Notes have gone north. To let you know when your card has been mailed, if you asked us to. And to find out whether enough people want a shirt to be worth making any.

We do not use what you give us to advertise to you, and we do not build profiles of people who visit the site.

Who else sees it

A few services handle data on our behalf. Each of them has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read theirs if you want the full picture of how they operate.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We would disclose it if we were legally required to, and we would tell you if we were permitted to.

Your message and your name

If you write a note for us to send, your words go onto a card and into the mail. We may also share messages publicly, on this site or on social media, to show people what the campaign looks like. We will not publish your name, your handle, or anything else that identifies you without asking you first.

How long we keep things

We keep form submissions for as long as the campaign is running, because we need them to mail cards and to keep the count honest. When the campaign ends we delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Seeing, changing, or deleting your information

Email hello@canadalovenotes.com and tell us what you want. We will show you what we hold, correct anything wrong, or delete it. You do not need to give a reason, and we will not ask you for one. We aim to respond within thirty days.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is still no agreed standard for what a site should do when it receives one. We do not track visitors across other websites, so there is nothing for us to turn off, and we do not change what we do based on that signal.

Tracking by others

We do not run advertising networks, analytics scripts, or third-party cookies on this site. We are not aware of any third party collecting information about your activity across other sites through our pages.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect what you give us, and we have deliberately kept the amount of information we hold very small, which is the most effective protection available to a project this size. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot promise otherwise.

Where your information is held

We operate from the United States and the services we use store data in the United States. If you are writing to us from elsewhere, your information will be handled here.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything that matters, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and post a note on the site. If the change is significant and we have your email address, we will tell you directly.
